INFO
Talking Heads stimulates collaboration and exchange between artists and scholars and aims to make it more playful, exciting and fruitful. It aims to highlight the potential and connections that Heidelberg has to offer, especially for contemporary artists, and in turn, the great potential that the confrontation with new positions in contemporary art offers to scholars in their research and thinking. Our focus is on contemporary positions that are either at the interface between art and science or that deal with issues of high social and political relevance. We are bringing our guest artists into contact and exchange with research institutes in Heidelberg. For us, this is the city's greatest resource and what makes it so special for our experimental programme.
Talking Heads is a one and a half hour hybrid format that allows for deep engagement with the work of the participants and provides time and space for reflection, exploration and discovery. A special stage set, moving light design, music, sound effects and the use of projection technology are inspired by TV game shows and make the evening a special experience for participants and visitors.
The lecture and game series uniquely combines public science approaches with the new field of artistic research. The additional close involvement of the audience not only illustrates the innovative potential of engaging art and science on an equal level, but also allows participation itself to be experienced as a creative and inspiring process that encourages the engagement with scientific topics and artistic practices. Our events are not only intended for local audience, but are also recorded and made available to a wider audience as video podcasts.
